I imagine some of you are insommniacs like me - any ideas of how to get to sleep?

Congrats if you had stop the drinking.
You should see your doctor and he will give you a prescription of a medication to help you sleeping better.
When you are in bed and you can not sleep,just read a book.
every night go to bed at same hours.dont drink tea or coffee after 5pm.Drink hot milk with honey few minute before bedtime.
you can go for 20 minute walk.
Was just some idea that might help but the doctor is more helpful.good luck!

Insomnia sucks.
I know its illegal but I suggest you smoke some marijuana at night about 1-2 hours before you want to sleep.
I count white tail deer. My wife says the rosary in her head. Good Night!!
Here are a couple of things I try:
1. Drink caffeine-free tea in the evening
2. Drink milk an hour before bed.
3. Listen to a CD while trying to sleep. My favorites are anything with classical strings, or nature sounds (like the ocean).
4. Exercise during the day, but not past 5pm.
5. Don't eat for a couple of hours before bed.
I hope that some of these help! If you're still having trouble after a substantial amount of time, I'd advise you to see a doctor about your insomnia.
count bottles of your favorite drinks, then count the empty ones.
I am also an insomniac. I take advil pm and it works for me.
Relaxation tapes..camomile tea. warm milk, a walk ,going to the gym at night, a warm bath with chamomile and oils oatmeal or eating a heavy meal 1hr before. Reading writting in a gernal sleeping on your stomach good luck!
stopped drinking booze i assume ? Take to a local pharmacy and get a over the counter sleep remedy take for a maximum of 10 days, this will help to get a sleep pattern , then off to Zzzzzz.
I too suffer from occassional bouts of insomnia and have found that Valerian Root works quite well for me, it's an herbal supplement you can buy almost anywhere, even wal-mart.
A peaceful nights sleep without the sleeping pill drowsiness hangover the next morning. Good Luck!
Take up drinking again. It works for me !! Regardless, if you can't get to sleep, in a half an hour, then get back up, and wait 'till you're tired again, then go back to bed. It's the best answer I can give you. I slept for 5 hours straight, thismorning, after 32 hours up.......it was great.
