Antidepressants?

Question:
Is there an antidepressant that is not addictive, and that does not need to be taken for the rest of someones life? I have a fear of taking these for depression because I do not want to be on pills for the rest of my life, but I'm getting to the point where I have tried everything else unsuccessfully.

Answers:
I didn't know any were addictive. I know that you have to come off them slowly. I don't think it is the pills that determine if you need to take them a lifetime, I think it is the cause of the depression. If it is just situational you will only need them until you adjust to the situation. If it is a chemical imbalance ( like mine) you will probably always need them. Of course there are alternative treatments that work for some people, like st. johns wort, 5htp, meditation, exercise, supplements, therapy.
Just because you get on them, doesn't mean you have to be on them for the rest of your life. You just have to get off them with the help of your Dr. or slowly so you don't get sick.
It really isn't a big deal, so if you think you need them or think they would help, try them, you might be glad that you could be on them the rest of your life!
