What am I afraid of?

Question:
I have been in a relationship with a boy for more than two years. Sometimes they were not good relationships. But two monthes ago I have met an old friend of mine on-line. He loved me very much 3 years ago but then we lost contacts and he moved to another country. Now we chat almost every day and sometimes for 6-7 hours!! I think of him all the time and mostly how good he behaves with me. I though I might have fallen in love with him, I constantly saw him in my dreams. And when I could not stand not telling this to him any more I told him how good I feel with him and he told me he felt good too. I felt very happy but then I went out of the house ( that was on-line because he is still in another country) and became so afraid of the new feelings! I don't know what is the thing I am afraid of! I want to run away and hide! What is it! But then I returned and talked to him again but didn't tell about the feeling.. And then I was afraid again! What is it! Is this because I have boyfriend?

Answers:
Love is very powerful, so I suspect some of your fear is from that. Some of the fear is 'fear of rejection or failing', and of the 'unknown'. Perhaps a previous painful experience is coming back to haunt you, or maybe just realizing how vulnerable 'love' makes you. Likely your fear is also of yourself, so how to find a good self-image, that is knowing your gifts, your strengths as well as your weaknesses, and accepting yourself as well as your new relationship. Do you feel you are lovable? Good to keep a diary or journal to see how you're going inside, and find your own answers. Fear is powerful too unfortunately, but it does not free you like love does. Communication is very important, and perhaps you can help your friend also to communicate, as this is so important if you want a long term relationship. Good luck.
