You sound like a younger Me of the opposite sex.
I have suffered with chronic sinus infections most of my life, I was the victim of an abusive wife (happens more often than people think) And I recently moved over 800 miles from my family and friends.
Your 20's are some of the most confusing and difficult years in a young adult's life. Take it from someone in the end of his. This is where you leave behind many of the childish things you enjoyed in your teen years and move foreword into adulthood. It is only natural to feel intimidated by these life changes when they happen. It can feel like the world is spinning around you.
This will effect jobs, relationships, and friendships if you let it. The trick is to try and retain yourself as much as possible and don't try to go through it too quickly. It's OK to still like cartoons, and pancakes shaped like letters or mickey mouse. That is part of what makes you, you. Don't let yourself loose your youthfulness during this time as that is the one thing that will keep you young at heart.
If there was a life lesson I could pass on this is it. I hope my extra 8 years will help you cope with this crazy time in your life.
As for your man nearly slapping you. You need to forgive him one time, and one time only. If it happens again it is the beginning of a pattern, one which ALWAYS increases in intensity and danger. Hopefully it was a momentary lapse in brain function and it will never happen again. If it does, don't play the helpless victim, Kick his *** by any means possible and call the cops. Make sure to get pictures of any marks. (this is only worse case scenario).
If he was able to stop himself it means he at least was taught well and is in control.
Good luck.

God loves you (John 3:16)
it's not only you I am also in the same boat. But hey !! live for today and this moment Trouble does not last forever.
You can control all of these things that bother you.
YOU can leave your abusive cowardly boyfriend - real tough guy.
YOU can look for another job and work for someone that appreciates you.
YOU can get meds to control your sinus.
YOU can rent a car and get outta town.
Life seems tough sometimes, but I can think of many people in a hospice who would trade places with you anytime.
Well, the first thing I would do is stay with your mom if you can. If you know she's supportive, then she'll understand. Talk things through with your boyfriend. Sometimes that helps. I'm 23 and don't have a car, but I walk everywhere. To zone out, listen to music that reflects your mood. It works for me everytime. You'll get through things ok. Just have hope and patience. Hope this helps ^_^

leave do what your mom says go home you don't need that sh*t. Its the economy. Despite the lies that are told in the media, the economy really sucks. The only jobs out there are minimum wage jobs. If you have a good job, then your boss knows that he can mistreat you and there is nothing you can do about it.
Unless there were extenuating circumstances with your bf, your mother is right. You don't need to live with someone who beats you. There are tons of great guys out there that would never lay a hand on a woman in anger.
Go outside, close your eyes and feel the wind in your face. That is God's breath. Ask Him to please be with you and guide you in His love. He created you for a purpose. To worship Him and to love others. Take a good long walk and get away from everyone and just seek Him. And mirth that has no bitter springs: Forgiveness free of evil done,
And love to all men 'neath the sun.
