Weaning off Geodon/ tardive dyskenesia?

Question: My husband takes Geodon as a mood stabilizer and last night we had to visit the emergency room because when he takes it sometimes his jaw becomes unhinged - tardive dyskenesia - and he can't breathe. How quickly do you think he could/should wean himself off this drug? he takes 80 mg right now, but the recommendation is that you don't change the dosage any more than once every 3 days.

Going off drugs too quickly can create a whole host of problems. I would speak with his doctor and decide what is best for him. I can see how you would be concerned because the side effects he is experiencing are severe. I would probably wean off them as fast as safely possible were it me. I would say try to knock it down 10 - 15 mgs every 3 days.
