Has Lexapro helped anyone with anxiety?

Question:
Doc put me on Lexapro for depression/anxiety. My mood has improved somewhat, not alot, but I was wondering if it will help with my anxiety levels that don't seem to go away. Plus I suffer from Panic attacks, which he gave me some xanax for breakthrough panic, but i seem to have more panic than anything.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

I am currently on Lexapro and Xanax. How long have you been on the Lexapro? It took me six to eight weeks before the "butterflies" in my stomach began to decrease. The Xanax has also helped me with panic attacks. I found that the more I thought about my anxiety the more anxiety I had. I do get warning signs before an attack. I can tell if it gonna be a good day or bad after I wake up. My palms get sweaty and I experience heart palpation's before I melt down. When a meltdown occurs for me it takes about 20 min. before I feel relief. The Xanax helps if you take it in the beginning of your day. They make me tired. I hope this helps and just to let you know, you're not the only one having problems like this. I'm right there with you.
Anti depressants will not help with panic attacks....Benzo's are the way to go. (Adavan, Clonazepam) Xanaxz is good, but they are highly addictive and hard to come off of.
Lexapro is ok, I took it for about 2 months and didn't have any bad side effects, but I divorced my husband, now everything is fine???? Funny how a little anxiety tricks you into thinking you are depressed.
