I have had problems with depression in my life. And I can say that when I am depressed and inactive I continue to feel worse and worse. However once I start taking medicine and I begin adhering to a regular schedule again I feel much better.

Once I complete the added activities I feel like I have a purpose. Like I am actually accomplishing things. Plus after a fuller day I feel very tired in the evening and usually sleep much better.

So in my opinion adding more to your schedule can help you feel more rested in certain situations.
