Why does my foot/leg wiggle incessantly, without my wanting it to, when I am really anxious?

Question:
For instance,I am in a group which is taking turns going around the circle to give our names. As it gets closer to my turn I realize that my left foot is twitching back and forth. I'll mentally stop it, then it will begin again.

Answers:
This sounds like another form of a "nervous tick". It happens unconsciously and is related to stress. Perhaps you could learn some stress management techniques. When you are in situations that are stressful you need to remind yourself to continue to take long slow deep breaths.

It's an unconscience thing your brain is doing. I used to do that ALOT. I had to consciously realize when I was doing and it stop. You might just be nervous.

Or you can have restless leg syndrome. Just nervous probably. Restless leg syndrome is much more involved and painful.
