What do you think of Stratera medication for ADHD?

Question:
My son has problems with reading but other than that he is ffine other than a few problems getting along with kids at school. He has been on the medication for a few weeks - just to see how it helps but I do not see anything other than mood swings and the lacking of appitight. Need help in understanding what I should do with my 9 yr old boy.

Answers:
I had my daughter on Stratera for 4 years and recently took her off of it and switched to a more natural approch .. DHEA and getting rid of some things in her diet that seem to affect her.. (do a google search on dietary changes for ADHD children or ADHD diet) and you will find many great things .. since I have done this my child has gone from a F and D gradeing child to an A and B child... it has made all the world.. also she has stopped complaining about the mood swings.. and started eating again.. and also stopped complaining about her tummy always hurting...

dont stop the medication all at once without checking with your doctor thou because it has been known to cause seisures when stopped suddenly in some cases...

Hope this helps..
Blessings,

Strattera is probably one of the safest medications for ADHD. I don't like the thought of medicating children but if you must, then Strattera is porbably the safest way to go. It is the only non-stimulant ADHD medication approved by the FDA. Remember, this is a 9 year old child, he is supposed to be a kid so please don't medicate him unnecessarily regardless of what the teachers say. It just makes their jobs easier if all children are meek and zombie-like. If he gets along fine at home I would really question the need for medication.
