Is it really possible to be hypnotized without the use of drugs?

Question:
I mean, isn't it all fake--the stuff you see on TV? Or, if it is real, do you have to have a really weak mind, one that is easily swayed by the power of suggestion? Has anyone out there ever really been hypnotized? If so, how, and what did it feel like?

Answers:
The stuff you see on tv is totally fake. Those folks play along. If it were real, can you imagine how easily ANYONE could watch those shows, then put everyone they see or meet to 'sleep' and get them to rob places or commit other crimes etc etc?? It's soooo totally fake. I have a friend who had a therapist who hypnotized her and it's NOTHING like on tv. It takes time, lots of it. You also will not do anything you do not want to do. It's really a matter of quieting your mind, then repeating over and over a certain desire. For example quitting smoking. It seldom is done in one shot, usually many visits or very long ones. And then it's a matter of suggestion, visualization is a HUGE part. Your mind is never unaware of things like they portray on tv.

Other Answers:
I think if you're open to the power of suggestion it's possible.

You definitely can get hypnotized without drugs. For the most part, the TV/movie representation of hypnosis is not very accurate.much like many representations of real-world issues.

Yes, I have been hypnotized. It was in a group session for weight loss. It is a very pleasant experience. You are totally aware of what is going on, just very relaxed.

to be quite honest, i've never tried to get hypnotized but by reading your question, i searched the internet for an explanation.

Kindly refer to this site, I don't believe that it is because of an individual having a weak mind that's why the go into trance.
