Inpatient mental hospital or psychiatrist visit?

Question:
My medication for depression is causing (I believe) lots of weird uncharacteristic thoughts/actions. I can go to the hospital inpatient tomorrow and work on it. Or I can go to the psychiatrist in 2 weeks(soonest appt.). Which one should I do?

Answers:
If you believe that your medication is what is causing a lot of weird thought and uncharacteristic thoughts and actions then the time to act is now.

Please do not put yourself through two more weeks of misery to wait and get things straightened out.

I am Bipolar and I have been on a lot of anti-depressants and I truly doubt that the medication is what is giving you the problem. It sounds more like the anti-depressants are not working at all thus causing you all of these problems.

If I were you and I have had to do this myself I would go to the nearest hospital that has a Psychiatric Unit and have myself committed to get you problems straightened out. Two weeks is a long time to wait to see the doctor and if you go inpatient you will be able to get your medications straightened out and get to the root of the problem before your next doctors appointment. Do yourself a favor and go to the hospital for help. I hope it works out for you. Good Luck
Go to the hospital inpatient. If you can't wait. I kind of going threw the the same thing. So if you want to chat about it e-mail me.
