Do any of you suffer from S.A.D., seasonal affective disorder?

Question:
I always get depressed and mentally sluggish as the days grow shorter. Do you think this really has a physical cause, or is most of it just all in my head? Isn't it just normal to feel depressed that summer is over and we have 5 months of winter here in the midwest?

Answers:
I've suffered with S.A.D. for many years. It isn't a nice feeling at all and can be rather brutal to your self esteem and self worth. Despite popular belief this disorder can be rather brutal physically as well as mentally. Some doctors recommend a "light box" or a "special sunlight lamp" for people like us. We are more sensitive to not having the sunlight of longer days than most people. The "light boxes" or special "sunlight lamps" are to provide us with the much needed extra sunlight our brains and bodies crave to elevate our moods. I've looked into the price of such items and they are too expensive for my budget. Another thing you could do is work with bright yarns or bright colors of summer such as painting or coloring or crochet or knitting. This seems to help me out greatly. I urge you to not be too hard on yourself. It is a true ailment and many people whether they choose to admit it or not suffer with this debillatating disease. There are no medicines that I am aware of that can combat your syptoms. Just do your best with working with bright colors during the winter months.

Good luck and I hope I was some what helpful!
In my experience particularly this year for some reason come winter time I feel as you do
