My father has been very aggressive. What can I do to help him admit this?

Question:
He has recently cut down his drinking (dramatically as he was an alcoholic) and has been extremely aggressive, moody and downright scary. If we don't help him soon, my parents will have to separate, and I refuse to let that happen! PLEASE HELP!!!

Answers:
Is he under medical treatment? Sounds like he's experiencing withdrawal symptoms. They can last for weeks or months. Also, withdrawal from alcohol can sometimes trigger mood disorders. This is a very vulnerable time for him so you and your mom have to be very supportive and patient. Encourage him to stay sober and don't take anything he says personally.
