Can anyone tell me about their experiences of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy?

CBT was very useful for me. I was one of those people who said, "Ahhh, therapy is useless. I don't have any problems that could be helped by therapy." So, when I tried therapy, it didn't help me. A couple of years later, I identified specific problems that I had and thought, "You know, it doesn't have to be that way. I bet I can change that through therapy." So, I went back to my therapist and specifically asked for CBT. It helped me change some irrational thoughts and debilitating paranoia that I had suffered from for years. It basically healed me. Talk therapy, and esp. CBT, is one of the best treatments out there, if you're open to it. I'd just like to add that you shouldn't think of it as a weakness to ask for help. The weakness would be in not getting help and letting your problem continue. Also, remember that this stuff is evidence-based, which means it's scientifically proven to work. Best of luck to you!
