Can you drink alcohol while taking Lorazepam?

Question:
Just wondering.......because I wasn't told no by the doctor or the pharmacist, but reputable online websites suggest not to use alcohol when taking it.

Also, if I know I am going to drink one evening, is it as easy as just not taking it for the night?

Thanks

Answers:
NO, not unless your friends and neighbors know my work phone number. It's 911. I'm a paramedic. We get the call every weekend, "My friend has been drinking tonight and she just started taking Ativan (lorazepam) and she just isn't acting right." Don't do it. We need a little rest. Let me put it this way. Would you take a couple of Valium (Diazepam) and drink? We use Ativan when Valium won't work. It's stronger and lasts longer.
alcohol can make the drowsy side efects more pronounced, so if you drink then don't take the pill, good luck
