Is depression like alcoholism...most people have to hit rock bottom before they come back up?

Question:
I can't feel the rocks yet, but they are getting close. I quit drinking a year ago but now my depression is way out of control..meds don't work...therapy doesn't seem to either

Answers:
try getting your doctor to switch medication or get the prescription upped. You don't have to hit rock bottom to finally come back up....if i feel myself going back into my manic state, i go for help and get myself back in check. But there is a point you can hit the point of no return when it just doesnt matter anymore and you either wind up dead or in the hospital....not my idea of a fun time, since it, at one time happened to me.
there are so many diff meds for depression, have you tried many? i used to work for MD & people would come in all the time to try a new med or adjust does. also what about group therapy? tha's better sometimes cause it's not just all about you, you can meet others w/ similar situation & may make a friend.
