Are you showering before you shave (to soften the hair and open the pores)? And then only shaving with hot water?
And make sure you use a sharp, multi-bladed razor. The cheaper the razor the more likely the bumps. And wet a wash cloth with hot water, allow to set on face for a couple minutes prior to shave, that should help too.
After the fact, take a few aspirin (real old-fashioned aspirin, not ibuprofen/Advil not acetaminophen/Tylenol) and dissolve in water
apply to face and allow to set for a little while. The salyctic acid helps to reduce swelling and eases the bumps.
I use Sea Breeze (plain, yellow colored) for most of my razor bumps, this works really well, and yes it stings at first, but then the bumps and the sting go away.
Grow a beard like me. No actually I know of no product that performs like the commercials show. Check with a dermatologist.
There are several products on the market just for this problem. Call your local dermatologist and they can recommend something for you to get rid of facial hair without using a razor.
