Older men please...have you gone through a mid-life crisis? How have you dealt with it?

Question:
I feel like I am going through a mid-life crisis. I am questioning everything I have believed in, such as my religion, and my purpose in life. If you are an older man in your fourties or fifties, how do you feel about growing older? Do you dread the future? Are you optimistic about getting older?

Answers:
I have spent my life questioning everything. I went through most of my 'life changing' events in my early '30's. Now that I know more about things, and who I am, I don't find my life to be a crisis anymore. I understand I have to try and keep a positive ratio of creativity to support my level of consumption. Anything else is just a bunch of marketing hype to sell us crap we don't need.
You should be questioning everything, that's what wisdom comes from. The problem with our society is that people think that the paternalistic systems and authority figures know any more than they do about Life. They are LYIN' to you!
Each individual has to find their own place in the universe, and then attempt to use that wisdom to some good for the future. Nobody else can just tell you what you should have done, or should be doing with your life. If you have spent your life avoiding knowledge, then the middle of your life will be fraught with stress(and then a Harley, a Corvette, a boat, then the bills for them). If you have sought knowledge out, now is the time to try and organize the things you know to help you figure out the things you still have to gain before moving into the phase of life where you pass down your knowledge to others. You cannot pass down the wisdom. The next generations have to do their own organizing. You CAN pass down things that they wouldn't otherwise look for, though.
