What are natural way s to regain focus?

My view is that there are millions of undernourished people who have been given the artificial label "ADD" prpbably for the purpose of selling more useless and dangerous drugs. Just stop eating sugar products, unrefined (white) flour products, processed (packaged) foods, or produce with pesticides (nonorganic), and also lay off the dairy food, meat, and saturated fats. Don't fry your food; boil, broil or bake instead. Eat a lot more fresh veggies. Drink pure spring water. Then add supplementation, like extra B complex, C, and minerals... Liquid formulas absorb better. Get enough sleep. Practice regular meditation. And check out Gary Null's website and ask for some reports on "ADD". You WILL feel and perform much better if you do these things. And I almost forgot...the omegas are VERY important....eat lots of flaxseed (I found it in a cereal-type box at Wallmart) for best 3/6 ratio... and/or fish oil from fish without mercury....and your nerve cells will be humming the hallelujah chorus.....

My recomendation is sleep!
I usualy feel that way when I haven't slept enough.
Meditation for the mind
Hatha Yoga for the body
Don't get frustrated with either and start slow with small expectations and keep practicing
Tai Chi is very effective in promoting focus.
Yoga might also help.
If these are too "tofu" for you, you might try a more physical martial art. It might help you work off the excess energy and will help develop mental as well as physical discipline.
I have found that if you start jogging it disciplines the mind to focus. It works for me, anyway.
I started jogging for 2 kilometers, then 3, and then 4 and so on, and do it 3 times a week. (at the moment I do about 10ks at a time)
Jogging releases good hormones that you feel better.
Importantly, when you get the bit of the run that makes you want to quit, and you force yourself through it to reach your goal, your brain "learns" to take your "will's" instructions more seriously.
Good luck- it is a noble ambition to increase your attention span, and I agree that medication is a bad idea.
The brain is VERY powerful, and you'd be surprised how much power you have over it yourself. I think the phrase "mind over matter" applies here. If you TRULY concentrate while you're doing something, I'm sure you can stay focused.
Before you begin a task, try breathing exercises to clear your mind. Sit in a quiet room, alone, and take slow, deep breaths in and out. After each exhale, mentally picture all of the things you want to do flying out of your mind, one by one. Keep repeating this until everything *but the very first task you want to do* is out of your mind. After that, try doing your first task, and if an uneasiness arises, remind your subconscious that everything has flown out of your mind except what you're doing right now.
Try it and practice... in time, your focus will be great.

You've chosen the difficult way out, but the most reliable. My answer is yoga and meditation. Depending on your own preferences, you could take up hatha yoga (very soothing, not difficult to do), or Ashtanga Yoga (much more athletic. With both kinds of yoga - and most others - you focus on your breath. It is not easy, even for those without ADD. But it will be extremely effective. I taught Ashtanga to 15 year-olds with various learning difficulties, including ADD, with very good results. They were very athletically minded and so kept it up. You will have to be highly disciplined about your practice, whichever you choose. You need to do it every day. And remember that attention to your breath is your ticket to a healthier and easier life.
My son had to use a time release version of Ritalin and this helped him, does your doctor recommend this? He also says that green tea or energy drinks help a bit.
diagnosis's suck!! i'm dyslexic but they didn't really diagnose ADD when I was younger, if i we're a kid now i'd have ADD, bit of farse really...i fudged my way through school, didn't get any qualifcations.. then went back later and now have a degree... anyway I hear what your saying... don't do the simulants thing not even the 'herbal' health food shop types, it's all a load of poo, you just end up more scatty.... also be warry of caffine unless you specifcally want to go bonkers (friday night ;) ) eat healthy, take a good vitamin suppliment, try taking omega suppliments (they really do help concertration but take a couple of weeks to build up in your body, most westerners are difficient in omega fatty acids) don't eat to much sugar, learn how to chill properly (how to really cool/slow your thoughts down, you might try yoga or somthing, I just surf, i make sure i get in the water as often as possible to clear my head, any exercise is good... other than these kinds of things, its just a case of perserverance. you'll get there in the end.. its probably a blessing that you can't take the med's as otherwise you'd only have to learn to cope without them later.....
