why do my hormones rage wild a week before my period starts?

Question: Whenever my period is fixing to start my brain goes into overdrive so to speak. I suffer from depression, and my period just escelates it all. I seem to have a little "voice" in my head telling me things I know is stupid, and another one verifing it, and another one trying to tell them to shut up so to speak. I don't believe that this is personalities, but I don't know why it happens every month one week before my peirod. Does anyone else have this problem? Can I stop it, or minimize it...
