and now smokes more thinking it will help her loose weight..!!
i think she put on weight because of smoking...what do i do to help her
it hurts to see her like this...she cuts too...

Allow me to address the fact that smoking does not cause weight gain. Those who quit smoking gain weight merely because smoking it's an oral fixation and when they are no longer consumed by a cigarette in their mouth, they have a great tendency to eat. Furthermore, please let her know that smoking more does not help her shed weight.
You have to address what exactly is the issue here. Her smoking sounds like it is a symptom of a problem. I think her root problem may lie with her depression. What exactly is she depressed about and how long has this been going on? She did not just wake up one day and decides to be depress and take up a smoking habit. She may need to seek professional counseling to properly assess what is going on with her. Please urge her to do so soon. Keep in mind that you can't help those who don't acknowledge that they have a problem and who don't want the help but your support is tremendous in her life.
Trust me, she's got bigger problems than smoking and weight gain. I'd recommend directing her to a therapist. I feel for you because I've had friends that have engaged in very self destructive behavior, too - cutting, suicide attempts, heroin use, binge drinking. Unfortunately there's only so much you can do other than point her in the right direction. Ultimately she has to decide to help herself. You can't take on her problems as your own. That will just end up making things worse.
