Does anyone have any study advice for a struggling college student?

Question:
I have trouble concentrating when I read and tend to fall asleep every time I pick up a book to study. Every Time! I do read some of it but I get distracted and start to daydream and fantisize about stuff and then dose off. This is really hurting my studies and grades. Can Anyone give me any advice as to concentrate more as I read? I think a lot about stupid stuff and especially sex. This is not a joke. I'm a guy who is a virgin. Could this be my problem? Honest and serious advice please.

Answers:
There have been a few similar questions, and I suggest that you also check in the search field under 'study'.

I also got conditioned to get sleepy as soon as I opened a text book! It's not funny, is it?

Okay, some of the suggestions from the other similar question are:

Do not recline when you read, but sit up straight.
Have a notebook and pencil and write notes.
When you feel sleepy get up and stretch.
Read out loud to yourself.
Remember why you are taking the course and why it is important to read the material, and make an effort.
While you are reading keep shifting position from sitting forward, back, shift your legs from in front of you, to the side, other side.
Get up and stretch and take a 5 minute break every half hour even if you are not sleepy.

Even now, if I get insomnia, all I have to do is get out my old sociology book and open it. *yawns*

oh, going out and getting laid will not help,, in fact it will only be more of a distraction to you. I do hope you have a balanced life though, 'all work and no play makes jack a dull boy',, but healthy play.

I hope this helps.
No being a virgin has NOTHING to do with it! Find a subject you like, put aside some exercise time, give yourself breaks, drink some juice or water while you work, chew some gum. Put on some soft music.
