what can i do to convince people that not all bipolar people are crazy and kid killers?

Question:
with all the heaslines today it is affecting my friends and I. My friend was banned from seeing her grandchildren except when the parents are present. i am a sunday school teacher of small children. I wonder if they will replace me if they find out i am bipolar. I have lost jobs due to this.

Answers:
There are lots of us trying to not be discriminated against. I have told very few people what my diagnosis is. I'm not ashamed of it; I just keep my personal life and health issues to myself. My mother was recently diagnosed as bipolar and I don't think she's told anyone outside the family yet. She is a nurse and although health professionals should know enough to realize that people with bipolar disorder are rarely dangerous, they often see the worst cases and base their reactions on the one time something bad happened to a friend of theirs. Unfortunately, it's likely that you will be replaced as Sunday school teacher. Church groups can choose whoever they wish and don't have to answer to anyone except possibly higher church officials, depending on the denomination.
That is illegal and actionable. you are covered under the americans with dissabilities act. You should disclose your bi-polar condition voluntarily. If they fire you simply for that, when you are capable in all other ways, you can sue the pants of of them. Lots of people are bi-polar and lead normal peacful lives, with maybe a little bit of medicinal help.
