Answers:
We all respond differently to medications such as Zoloft so its difficult to predict how you will feel. Hopefully your symptoms, the anxiety symptoms and the depression, will at least lessen to the point you are able to work on the issues of your social anxiety and depression without suffering unduly. There are no magic pills that just make everything go away hun.think about asking your doctor about therapy and group support and if it might not help you.
Zoloft is a medicine in the line of re uptake inhibitors..paxil ..wellbutrin.zoloft etc.... we all have a hormone in our bodies called serotonin its sometimes called the happy hormone because when we feel happy the brain releases serotonin later the cells reabsorb the serotonin .... we all have a certain amount of serotonin in our bodies at all times.. but some people don't have enough of this.which can cause depression anxiety etc...Zoloft works by stopping the cells from re absorbing the serotonin increasing the levels in the blood theoretically making us feel better this is why it takes about a month to feel effects the body needs time to build up the levels...if your problem is that you have low levels of serotonin then this may work for you..i have been put on 3 of these re uptake inhibitors i didn't have much luck with them but every person is different however i did feel the best effects from Zoloft just not enough to justify the sleepiness i experienced with it lots of luck to you
Antidepressant meds such as Zoloft eventually prevent your brains serotonin from being 'retaken' back into the sender and allowing that serotonin to go where it's suppose to. This leads to an increase in the amount of serotonin in your brain allowing a sense of well being to gradually replace the depression. Anxiety is a part of depression. That will ease also. Notify your doctor of any changes in your moods, good or bad. And keep in mind that a change in the type of meds used or the dosage prescribed may change as your doctor sees appropriate. Counseling along with meds has been proven to speed up healing in most people. Ask you doctor about this. You CAN beat this. I did
Zoloft is a pretty good medicine, not too many side effects and it works pretty well. There are a lot of newer medicines out there as well, so if the Zoloft doesn't do it for you there are a lot of other good ones to try. I went from Zoloft to Effexor a couple years back and I like it a lot better, it helps more with anxiety than Zoloft does.

After the medicine starts to take effect, other people will probably begin to notice subtle differences in you long before you do. At first you may only feel a little less tired, fatigued, and anxious. Antidepressants are subtle. But you may feel a little spacey or like you've had too much coffee when you first start taking it, that's normal, your body will adjust to the medicine and that feeling goes away.

I recently started taking Klonopin (like Xanax) for anxiety and it works very very well, if anxiety is among your chief complaints, you may want to ask your doctor about adding it on top of the Zoloft or whatever medication you stick with. The Klonopin seriously just cuts the legs right out from under the anxiety and it starts working immediately.

Good luck
