what causes hallucinations?

Question: i am not on drugs or prescribed medications. i do not drink alcohol. what causes me to see streaks of light at night both inside my room or outside.sometimes they are light blue or white lights. every so often they are a bright red. it has never happened before in my life. i am 52 years old and in good health

You may be getting migraines. My friend sometimes sees 'DNA strands' as she calls them and flashes of light before getting a migraine. I assume she calls them 'DNA strands' because they're red, white and blue, like in a textbook. Other than that, I'm not sure what's going on with you.

it sounds as if u are having a neurological problem. different problems manifest this way. so i would say go check it out with your doctor.

see a nurologist .i have similar halucinations due to epilepsy ,there are other nurological disorders that can cause this as well

Could be eye problems or neurological problems. I'd start with a good eye check-up first, then go from there.
