studying and mental problem?

Question:
I get too much stress from school, preparing for college, studying, and working hard. I become too negative of myself and these negative thoughts are preventing me from becoming smarter or becoming better than before. I compare too much with other people and keep thinking that theyare smarter or better than me.

Also, when I want to do something other than studying, I always ask myself, 'Am I doing the right thing?' I do not know what's right and wrong.

Answers:
There is nothing that succeeds like success itself. This means that the way to be successful and minimize stress is to divide the overwhelming situation of learning and studying into small "bite-size" pieces where you can experience some success. Scheduling, organizing, rewarding, and avoiding comparisons are effective tools to attain success. Schedule learning or studying in 30 minute periods followed by a 5 minute break (a reward). Do the most difficult tasks (what you dislike most) when you are not tired or preferably first to get them over with. After 3 hours of study reward yourself with 30 minutes of exercise. This will increase the blood flow to your brain and help you keep awake for additional studying. Find a buddy that you can sometimes study with. Remember that you are preparing now for the rest of your life and the ultimate payoff is perhaps several years away. As you mature, you are able to put off immediate satisfaction for a successful career later on. Replace any negative thoughts with positive thoughts of previous times of small successes. To help prevent negative thoughts about yourself, do a good deed for someone every day and write them down daily in a diary along with 3 blessings that you received. These don't have to be big things;eg., saying hello to a neighbor, smiling when passing a stranger, helping with a task at home without being asked, complimenting someone at school, or praising someone for a job well done. Also remember that nutritious food and plenty of sleep make studying and learning much easier. Be kind to yourself and know that "doing your best" is all that is required of you.
My mother told me when I was little, there are a lot of dumb people in the world. And you know, as you go through life, you'll see there is. Good to be smart and study. But it is also good to have a social life.
