anyone on paxil, read this?

Question:
Been on paxil for 5 years and it is the only drug that ever worked. If you have depression, more than likely you have it for life. I mean, why do people who take anti depressants always seem to get their depression back? If you have depression, take the antidepressant that works and stay on it. If something helps you function or makes you better, why stop it because you think it is a crutch or you have a hang up about it. Unless your overall health is affected by taking the drug, which your doctor will let you know if it bad for you, why come off it? I don't know about you, but I trust my doctor because I certainly don't have any med school behind me. ;)

Answers:
If I trusted my doctor, I would still be depressed and taking Paxil, Remeron, Lexapro... you name it. I could not believe or accept that the rest of my life would be spent in misery, so I did something about it:

I agree. And Paxil is the best out there.
Paxil sucked for me, tore my stomach up. Cymbalta is best one I have tried - no side effects
Sorry, don't really know what to say, but I have tried Zoloft, and Wellbutrin and neither have worked! I wanted to try the Paxil CR, but my doctor will not let me, as it says that it causes weight gain! Do you know anything about this? If you do, would you please let me know? Thank you, rolfsbabygirl@yahoo.com
God bless and Good luck!
I was put on paxil and I went psycho and had to be put into the hospital and was put into a restraint for 3 days straight
I was on paxil for about 6 months after having been on wellbutrin, prozac, and zoloft (each for about 6 months at a time). None of those worked for me, at which time I started seeing another doctor who found the problem, a misdiagnosis. I was bipolar, not major depressive. I am on a new drug called Topamax. It's primary use is to treat seizures but it has shown efficacy in treating bipolar disorder and it's side effects are minimal (not to mention I lost 40lbs on it, woo hoo!). I have been on it for about 2 years now and I love it, the only draw back, no generic yet, and it's seriously expensive. If you find that medications are not working for you, maybe it's not the medication, maybe it's the diagnosis. You can't fix something if it's not broken. Just be sure you're fixing the right thing! But that's just my case. Paxil has had great effects for some of my friends with serious anxiety disorders. Good Luck to all and Blessed Be. V-
I gained alot of wieght on paxil so thats why I had to stop, it. ANd also, felt like a zombie. I was takign effexor and it made me lose my hair so now I am suffering thriugh awful depression. Its terrible. you right about that, but whats wrong with these medicines is people cant handle the sideeffects. Its either way you get scewed you can win. It helps but it hurts you in other ways.
