Is this normal? Or am I different?

Question:
I always think that my actions will cause something else to happen. For example I feel that if i rearrange the furniture in my room, something bad will happen, because it's a big change to me. Also, me and my sister share a bathroom, the last time i used that particular bathroom was when i was sick in about 2nd grade. i haven't used it since because i'm afraid that if i do, i'll get sick again. It's small things like this that bug me, maybe i'm just afraid of change. i'm also afraid that if i have anything to do with the number 6 (as in 666) or 13 i'll have bad luck. If i forget to change the month on the calender for a few months or so, i don't touch it until a new year has started because i'm afraid something bad will happen. am i just terrified of change or is this something like OCD?

Answers:
The behaviors you describe do strike me as a little compulsive, but I do not have *any* medical expertise. Everyone has idiosyncrasies and yours seem harmless enough. However, if you feel that your fear of change and your fixation on ritual (like changing the calendar) are negatively impacting your life, you might consider speaking with someone about it, starting with your parents and maybe a school counselor.

Other Answers:
it does kind of sound like ocd - you may want to talk to a professional - especially if your fears are stopping you from doing things that are enjoyable in your life. When fear becomes the big thing in life you need to seek help.
This is something that you will want to talk to someone about. The overarching fear that something bad will happen is something that we dont' have to live with. Start with a school counsellor and see what they might do to help you.
I wouldnt worry about OCD unless it effects your life style or becomes time consuming avoiding these thing, Im talking like at least an hour a day. Every one has quirks and things. Its when we have to alter our life that it becomes a problem. It sounds to me like you are just superstitious.
Don't be terrified honey it does sound like a case of OCD though. I have it and i do the same thing. If i put somthing in the wrong place and if it is not perfect i also feel something bad will happen. I am picky about the things i touch because if i go grocery shopping and i take the first can i touch i have to put it back and take the next one. I have to check everything nine times (the front door before i go to bed, the stove and stuff like that) hopefully you have a lower number. There is good news though you can take medication for it. It is called Luvox and it is for OCD. Helped me alot, now i count everything in two's LOL at least the number of times that i have to do things is coming down. It does suck i know but a Psychiatrist can prescribe Luvox for you too. Hope i helped you some.
Sounds like superstition to me.
OCD, but I have a very close friend with OCD who is a brilliant, successful physician - No biggie - Just get some help (therapist, shrink, etc.)
