Answers:
Bi-polar is not an easy dignosis. And should only be given after talking with a therapist and getting a complete history. Just because you have mood swings doesn't mean that you are bi-polar. Your regular doc described it as manic and then depressed, because that is what it is (bi-polar also called manic depressive). However, those manic and depressive spells can mean different things to different people. Bi-polar is also more difficult to diagnose because people with the disorder cycle differently. For example, one who is has a rapid cycle would the explaination for the description above.

If your friends think you are bi-polar and this disturbs you, then talk to a therapist. But don't assume that you have it, and it could very well be other things, such as hormones, excess stress, thyroid, or even a social anxiety issue. Talk to a therapist, not your regular doctor if you are concerned. If you are still in school, talk to your school counselor--they can set up an appointment with the school psychologist to get some testing done.

Good luck! Hope this helps, but personally I think that you should be more conscious of your moods and reactions....and get new friends.
Trust your doctor she or he is right
