Why is it so hard for me to let go?

Question:
I find it very difficult to let go of things. Emotionally I hang on to things to a degree where I get nervous. My side affects are very subtle (maybe a little rumbly tummy, or something) But my question is: Am I just too sentimental?

An exapmle:

When I see baby pictures of my kids... (they are still young only 2 and 9 1/2 months) I get this weird feeling in my tummy that I can't shake from just thinking how they are getting big.

Anyone have any advice or encouraging words for me?

Answers:
Two things come to mind from your question. The first, is it just items or people or both that you cant let go of. From your question your mentioned that you got a weird feeling thinking about your children growing up. Is this because you have a fear of them growing up and leaving you behind or are you just afraid for them? I think for the most part every is sentimental, and mothers especially. You may have an anxiety disorder if ever so mild, but it is still something to think about. If your fear of letting go also stems to material possesions (i.e. you can't toss out that old coffee mug you havnt used in years..) you have have attachment issues and possibly OCD. I only state this because my mother has this problem and cant seem to part with anything nomatter how small and insignificant.
Sounds like anxiety. Perhaps you should see a therapist, not a psychiatrist because you probably don't need medication. There is something suppressed that you don't realize and you more than likely need to talk to someone to help you discover what that is. Perhaps something in your childhood.
