what is schizophrenic disassociation?

Question:
I am writing a paper about the novel "In Cold Blood" and there is a reference to the criminal who committed the murders as having a moment of schizophrenic disassociation. I am having trouble finding what this exactly is. I appreciate any help!

Answers:
This is alot (if not the same) as schizophrenic psychosis...

the person experiences an intence feeling of unreality where the world may seem strange and unfamiliar. thinking becomes extremely disorganized. This results in very poor judgment and is often accompanied by severe fear or anxiety. the ability to reason is completely lost. they may have very odd and bizarre thoughts and behaviors. It can truly impare the way a person looks at the world. They may say and do things that are completely unrealistic and frightening.

Hope this helps!
