Besides the two main ones - Prozac and Paxil . there are tons depending on your specific needs.
Depecote for Bi Polar disorder (previously known as manic-depression)
Effexor for anxiety disorder . the list goes on.
There are TONS of medications available for depression. I've tried a lot of them and the two that worked the best for me are Celexa and Effexor. But my insurance won't pay for either. Good Luck.
there is about ten or so,look them up and remember theyALL have not so good side affects.look for them at, ask.com
All kinds, and all sorts of combinations. Some depressions are more difficult to treat successfully than others. When beginning, stay in close contact with your MD -- she/he may wish to switch you to get optimum effect with minimum downsides. Pacsil Deseryl, Welbutrin etc., etc.
It depends on why you are depressed in the first place.
Bad things happen. They happen for a reason and it is up to you to find the good in the bad. Whether it be a lesson or something you learned from the experience.
It also depends on your age.
Only a primary care physician can diagnose whether or not you are depressed, or depressed enough to medicate. Medication is not always the answer.
You need to think about all the things that have led to your "depression". List them on a sheet of paper and the write down the positive out of each of them. The positive is there you just have to look for it.
There are many medications for depression. Some say Paxil - Paxil is a strong drug. It has it's downfalls though. There is something in Paxil that triggers your brain to store all the food you eat. In other words you can gain quit a bit of weight while taking it. I took it for Menopause depression. I was on cloud nine. I wanted sex again. It was wonderful. Except for the fact I gained 20 pounds while on it. Paxil CR it a time released medication. A lot of insurances do not cover the cost of it. It would have cost me 100.00 dollars a month out of packet. I am now on Effexor XL. It is also a time released drug. Not as good as Paxil but it works. There is also Welbrutrin. You can get this in time released also. I have heard good things about it.
It all goes back to why you are depressed. You need to see your primary care physician and have a check up. Blood work on down the line. Let a professional be the judge of what you need not Yahoo Answers.
