But first, can you explain why such places have been recommended for her?
In my experience... And I have a lot in the area... Most problems can be solved at home without ever having to send the child off.
But if you end up doing it anyway... You really need to learn as much about the facility as possible. There are some truly TERRIBLE places out there that are supposed to "help" children but end up abusing the hell out of them. I went through years of it.. Bruises all over my body and broken bones and no one did anything about it.. Because no one believes the child.
And also... Is this your daughter? Because if so, you need to look into what kind of family program the facility has.. And I say that because a lot of those places, don't let parents visit very often, at all, and only allow 10-15 minute phone calls about once a week.. Kind of like prison.
If you can find another way to get her help.. PLEASE try. "Group Homes" should be the very last resort.
