I just started using lexapro?

Question: For a week & a 1/2 now, it's the first of this medication I've ever been on, I'm using it for irritability & mood. The question is I felt great the 1st week, I really felt it working, & the side effect of insomnia to go with it. Now it's not working any more, i only had the side effects for 3-4 days & now I feel the same I felt before taking it. Is this possible?? I called & talked to a nurse at the doc office, but everyone telling me I gotta give it at least 2 weeks to feel better, But I tell them you don't understand it made me feel better almost immediatly & now it's not workin no more Is this normal? or am I crazy? 2pts either way ;-)

No matter what you have to give yourself time to get used to medications. I was on lexapro for awhile and it took about 3 weeks to feel the effects. I know you said that you felt better the first few days and you might have, but those also could have been just "good days." Everyone has good days and bad days. If you give your medication some time, it should work. If not try another medicine because not all medications work for everyone. You have to find the right one for your body. But for now, just wait it out another week or two before you stop. Hopefully, everything goes well.

SSRI take 8 weeks to kick in so dont worry about it lexapro is a good medicine
