Why all of a sudden do I have urges to cut myself?

Question: Like sometimes I reallllllly want to, then sometimes I want to but I just dont feel like it. Why all of a sudden do they just come on? I cut my shoulder all up tonight because I just had to...it was just an unexplainable need to cut myself. It barely bled and I put medication on it and now you cant even see it. But why? Why all of a sudden? I know I'm going through depression... But if I dont cut myself when I want to, I start to shake and go vrazy because I know I cant. I'm only 13..but still...
