What is it called when you don't feel like doing anything (mental activities)?

Question:
I love running, and I think it is the only thing I always am in the mood to do. Please read what I think causes this mental disorder or whatever it is, state of mind probably (but I get it way too often).

Every day, I guess what keeps me doing things is my curiosity, looking forward to things, increased stimuli in brain etc. If I attempt to accomplish something, and fail, or get mad about something, I will lose the interest in that thing, related things, and eventually everything, then I need something to renew my interest in life. What also causes this boredom/ADHD/depression/whatev... is when I look forward to something in the far future, (weeks, months, years) and time is making me wait, making me do things I hate (school, work) until the time comes for something interesting to happen. When that happens, I lose the interest in anything that is before the special event, instead of happily, patiently waiting. I can't take it anymore, I don't want to do anything!!! (except physical)

Answers:
it sounds like you lose motivation. it's depressing when things don't work out the way you want them too.

one of the reasons you enjoy doing physical things is that you don't have to think about the depressing things in life. you can just go running and forget about it.

then when you have have to go back to what upset you, you don't want to. who does!? you just got in a good mood and now you have to go back to upsetting things again.

you need to push yourself harder when it comes to this. otherwise you will never finish the important things. there are some things you just have to get through no matter what. a job, a project, help you promised to a friend and now you don't want to do it. these are things you need to push yourself on.

of course there are more things than that but you must decide the importance of the things in your life.

so just kick yourself in the hind end and tell yourself your going to finish this or that.

the result will be that you can be proud of yourself and then you will feel like doing more.

good luck.
a) boredom
or
b) depression
I have ADHD ... and what you have to do ( as me ) is always try for new things.. read books, change the subject always.. im sure you are a very intelligent person.

With the time you will get used to the rutine of school and work.... there is nothing else that you can do that try to find new things.. there are tones to do.

And if you like physical then do as much sport as you can, have the body in constant excercise will make you feel more allowed to start doing other activities .....

Remember that constant and patience are good things in life... if you fail in something try it again till you get it.. there is nothing as the feeling of the victory, that you do your goals, that you really can do it.. when you try it hard and you get what you want, you will be in the way to start to do things seriusly.

Hugzzzzzzzzzzzzz and good luck :)
I have no real professional knowledge so please take that in mind.
I recognize the feeling you describe and would call it apathy.Didn't think it was a mental disorder.
