Do I have signs of any forms of Depression?--Re. the details--?

Question:
Over the course of the past year, I have become so much more reserved. Last year was much worse, I would avoid people just so I wouldn't have to small-talk with them. I would dislike most people, the only ones I would like were people who only talked casually. I had terrible grades(I've pulled them up significantly this year). I didn't care about anything at all. Whenever someone would speak about anything important with me I would just say to myself "WHO THE F**K CARESSSSS!!"

I used to joke around a lot and talk to everybody. I used to be the funniest kid I knew. Now I'm boring and dull. Occasionally pretty funny. I'm very conservative nowadays and when I talk it feels really awkward unless I'm very familiar with the person. I had a sharp loss of appetite this year and I'm usually in either a decent mood or a mood in which I feel desperate for something interesting or inspiring.
If this is something totally different than depression or just normal moodswings let me know I'm curious

Answers:
More like social anxiety, but like any anxiety disorder depression usually is there. Fix the social anxiety disorder and the depression should lessen significantly. My suggestion is to see a social worker or psychologist and find out why you developed the disorder and how to cope.

You seem to have symptoms of depression. Most people who are depressed experience periods of happiness or want for something exciting. I suggest (if you're not already) seeing a therapist.
Oh Hon. It sounds like either you are entering into teenage years or you are experiencing some depression. There are many signs of depression and some hit people differently. The good news is that it normally goes away. Has something in your life changed so much lately? Family, friends, school, work? If yes, then start there and ask what exactly about it made you feel a certain way- different than you normally would. If nothing has happened to trigger these changes, it could just be a hormonal change. As sucky as that sounds. If you or your parents have insurance, ask about seeking a one time consultation with a Psychiatrist or Psychologist. It should be covered under insurance. Maybe just airing all this will help. Realizing there is a change and that it isn't good is the first step and it's up to you to work to improve it after that. But you don't have to do it alone. Hope this helps!
it kind of sounds a little more like social anxiety, or maybe lack of inspiration/motivation. It could very well be depression, however you never want to choose that answer first (depression) as we know is often misdiagnosed. i would find a hobby or fight against those feelings and do it anyways. (if your mind is saying who the fu** cares. just fake it and act like you do.) it might surprise you to find out how fast your train of thought will do a total 360. if all else fails. go to the doctor!!

been there done that
Your description sounds a lot like depression with anxiety. For many years it was thought that depression and anxiety were two separate entities, and in some cases they are, but research has now shown that anxiety can be a component of depression as well.

You need to talk with your parents or with another adult whom you trust, and tell them about your feelings. Be completely honest with them, and tell them you would like to see a doctor. A doctor will be able to make a better diagnosis than anyone on this site, and he or she will also be able to help you with your depression. When you speak to a medical professional, be sure to tell them about the anxiety you experience, as many of the medications routinely prescribed just for depression can actually make anxiety worse.

Whatever you do, don't just sit on the problem and do nothing about it. Depression is a very serious illness, and the faster you can get help and treatment, the better off you will be.
These are the symptoms I had when I was a teenager just before I was diagnosed with depression and started a medication afterwards. After a short time , it's understood that I'm nott only depressive but also manic depressive.Of course manic depression has nothing to do with the symptoms you wrote.
These things you stated can deffinately be signs of depression.Cos you say your normal behavioural characteristics have dramatically changed all of a sudden.
