Answers:
Hi Foxys - I've been on anti-depressant/anxiety medications for over 4 years now due to panic attacks & depression. When I have taken meds at first, they ALWAYS have made me feel a little weird.. but it goes away after a bit - hang in there. Along with my normal meds, I've had a Rx for Xanax. If needed, I take 1/2 - 1 a day - depending on my anxiety levels. They are safe together as 1 is an anti-depressant/anxiety med and the other is a sedative. Just take 1/2 or less to understand how your body reacts to Xanax. I take the utmost minimum I can (usually 1/2 a tab), and if that doesn't work after a bit, only the other half. I've never needed more. It mostly makes me really sleepy- depending on how tired I am to begin with (and no, for those of you out there who are wondering -- it doesn't get you high... it just brings down the anxiety levels) :) It doesn't help any dizziness - I'm betting that's the start of the meds as they need a while before your body gets used to them. Hope this helps!

You need to call your doctor again and let him know how bad you feel. It can take a while to get used to certain meds but if the side effects are concerning to you then call him. You can also call your pharmacist (the one who filled your prescription) and tell him or her what's going on and they should be able to contact your doctor.

Here are some of the possible side effects of Prozac:

Abnormal dreams, abnormal vision, anxiety, diarrhea, diminished sex drive, dizziness, dry mouth, flu-like symptoms, flushing, gas, headache, impotence, insomnia, itching, loss of appetite, nausea, nervousness, rash, sex-drive changes, sinusitis, sleepiness, sore throat, sweating, tremors, upset stomach, vomiting, weakness, yawning
Prozac may cause you to become drowsy or less alert and may affect your judgment. Therefore, driving or operating dangerous machinery or participating in any hazardous activity that requires full mental alertness is not recommended.

While taking Prozac, you may feel dizzy or light-headed or actually faint when getting up from a lying or sitting position. If getting up slowly doesn't help or if this problem continues, notify your doctor.

Possible side effects for Xanax are :
Decreased libido, drowsiness, fatigue, impaired coordination, memory impairment, speech difficulties, weight changes

This part is important!

If Xanax is taken with certain other drugs, the effects of either could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is important to check with your doctor before combining Xanax with the following:

Fluoxetine (Prozac)

I found this information on

When you got the prescription the pharmacist was suppose to give you the information about it.You should call the pharmacist and ask them what you should do.i have found a nice site about men health they give good advice.good luck
Definitely call your pharmacist to find out for sure.
I take them both, along with Seroquel, Trazodone and Effexor. I take 80mgs of Prozac, .25 Xanax as needed (usually one or 2 a day... 3 at most) 500mgs of Seroquel, 350mgs of Trazodone, and 375mgs of Effexor. There haven't been any interactions with any of my meds, and I've been on them for 2 years now. However, every person reacts a bit differently to medication. There shouldn't be any problems, but definately continue to follow your doctors orders and most importantly, DO NOT stop taking either medication on your own. That is very dangerous, and could cause major problems. Let the doctor do what s/he thinks is best. Give the medication about 6 to 8 weeks to feel the full effect of it. If all else fails, you could always see another doctor or try a different medication. Good luck!
