how to be positive?

Question:
i'm kind of negative person. I tend to look things negatively. It starts affecting my personality. Is there any good way to be positive and happy?

Answers:
I'm exactly the same - have been all my life. I'm trying to think positively about things, but I think it is a matter of getting professional help (self help books etc) as well as training yourself. Support from family & friends is beneficial too.

Other Answers:
You should have a positive outlook in life so that you will be happy in everything that you do.
I think it something one must work on everyday! Practicing positive self talk in the mirror helps. Reading the book "How to stop worrying and start living " by Dale Carnegie helped me. I tend to see the glass as "half empty " too, instead of half full. I don't know if you can completely change and retrain yourself. I have fought this negativity for all of 41 years, and it is still a fight..but I am still in it! Good luck to you!!
There are many ways, but I can give you one that works fine if you are serious about it. Wake up every morning, making a mental list of your blessings. No kidding, no religious stuff, just think how lucky and blessed you are if you can see, the moment you open your eyes, not like so many millions who are blind. Think how wonderful you feel moving your arms and legs, not as so many millions who are paralized and need to be helped to move. Look around and whisper a small "thanks" for awakening in a room, in a house, and not like so many millions who are living on the streets, or... and go on, at your own pace, and feeling.
It may sound too simple, but then again, remember (or learn) that the greater truths in life are incredibly simple. (not easy, I said simple... E=mc2 is simple, don't make me explain it)
Good luck, I'm sure you already have it....
When people are chronically negative, it is sometimes a defense mechanism. There is a fear of taking the risk of enjoyment and happiness, because you might be disappointed.

You might look back on your life, with a therapist if possible, and try to understand the experiences you might have had that have caused you to become defensive and afraid of happiness. When you understand the cause of your negativity, it will be easier to eliminate it.

Try to get more exercise.

Pick a goal for yourself, any goal, it doesn't matter, though preferably something that can involve other people, and work on it until you have achieved it. You will find that your negative feelings disappear when you are working on something, and the experience of achievintg a goal will begin to shift your attitude.

I'm basing much of the above advice on Chapter 12 of a book called "I could do anything if I only knew what it was" by Barbara Sher. Pick it up at a bookstore or library--I found it to be quite helpful for me.

When you let go of your defense mechanisms, you will begin to realize that you deserve and want to be happy, and your negativity will fade. Then you will find the positive strengths within you.
Change things.
If you do what you always do you'll get what you've always got.
Start small. Change where your bed is in your room. Change what burner you light the kettle.
Often people are negative or depressed because they feel they cannot change their environment and they feel powerless.
Set those goals, daily ones, they don't have to be huge, just small ones.
It's worked in the past for me.
Start a gratitude journal. Every day, write at least five things you are thankful for. When you are in a situation that makes you unhappy, try to find five good things about it. It really works!
Being happy can make a person positive. Try to do things (activities) that make you happy, be exposed to the sun or bright light, watch comedies to make you laugh, invest in a pet, who gives you unconditional love...the list goes on. The latest news I found out is that o-mega 3 fats (like fish oil) can boost your mood.
Think positive always. Move with positive attitude poples.Fix some target to reach in your carreer.
Always think about your dreams and gather relavant information. Once you started working on this your personality might increase soon.
