For a sober person in remission from bipolar disorder, would drinking alcohol cause a bipolar episode?

Question:

Answers:
Having an alcoholic beverage would not necessarily trigger a bi-polar event (either mania or depression) in and of itself. It's probably OK to have wine with dinner, for instance. But, a bi-polar that gets plowed is just asking for trouble. Any anti-depressant medication mixed with large amounts of alcohol could cause big problems. If I were bi-polar, I would avoid alcohol all together. It's just not worth it. Be a hero and be the designated driver instead.
Maybe. Alcohol is a depressant.
