Depression..

Question:
Everyone has their days when they feel depressed. When do you determine that this is more than and seek medical attention?

Answers:
It is dependent on you. Unfortunately we don't have little meters on our body to tell us when we are over the limit in terms of how much we can take mentally and emotionally. Sometimes it's a little blurry.

Perhaps one of the tell tale signs of depression is when you realize the same problem keeps coming back up. Perhaps it nags you for a couple of minutes a day.but then it comes back up the next hour and the next and the next. Persistent.

Depression, as far as I'm concerned is about a state of mind, and sometimes you can change it. At other times the problems are so deep that they take a very long time to get out of it. Medication is a tool, but it is not a 100% cure for a mental state of mind unfortunately. If you find that you can adjust your mental state so that you can keep on doing regular, daily activities then perhaps your problem is not so harsh. When it is so deeply ingrained in you though, it is important to discuss the problem with a psych or a counsellor. Remember it is a state of mind first, not a medical condition and it is you that can change that.

When you start to consider the world would be a better place without you..go get help! If you are worried about yourself or someone you know then you should seek medical advice.theres no harm in it. Happy thoughts!

Is it affecting your eating? Do you not ever feel like smiling or laughing? Everyday does it seem just like "another awful day to live" kind of day? Do you think about hurting yourself anyway? if it exceeds over a week or two, I think you should contact a counselor and tell somebody how you feel. I think when it gets in the way of your life and activities. Like if you stop doing things that you enjoy and stop talking to all your friends and family. Or like if you cry every single day and can't leave the house. If it gets in the way of your job and family life. That's what I think anyways, but I am not "depressed" in a clinical sense.

if it lasts more than a few weeks and nothing makes you feel better then you will need help. or if you cant get a date with me (because i am the greatest single guy in the world) i would seek help as soon as possible.now be honest it make you smile didnt it?

When it effects the things that would normally have made you happy or given you a sense of satisfaction. You should speak to your friends and see how they feel about how you have been acting and then also speak to your doctor.
