SSI and work-at-home?

I'm currently receiving SSI in California for the many conditions I have including panic disorder, agoraphobia and depression. I want to supplement my income with a job I can perform at home. How exactly will this affect my SSI (I heard you can still receive it when working but they might deduct from the check. How's the deduction formula work?) and what are some good ideas for jobs I can perform at home?
