Yeah I think it affects the thinking. yea

One interesting thing about memory is that while logic tells us that..very important events.would be the ones that we would remember with the *greatest* accuracy..often it turns out to be exactly the opposite.especally if the event was a truamatic one.

With truama..sometimes our brains try and protect us from memories that would be..simply too overwhelming for us. So yes, often our memory for the actual event is distorted, or even kept from us through protective "forgetting". And that forgetting can take some awfully strong forms sometimes.

I saw a movie recently where a child had had a really truamatic experience ( use your imagination ) and rather than allowing the truth into his mind..it was as though he had a big blank space in his mind when he tried to remeber what happened. He had lost several hours that he simply could not remember.

In time, he came to believe that he was one of the people who were.abducted by aliens. And that that was where the time had gone.

Whereas, in truth.his brain was simply protecting him from being overwhelmed by memories of what had really happened.

So yes..memories are not exactly the most accurate things sometimes, especally when it comes to traumatic experiences.
