Please answer my question about morphine?

Question:
Hey. i have a question. my dad has been in the hospital for over 3 months and he was on the pain reliever morphine for almost a month. he is now off of morphine but he seems confused. he will say stuff out of his head and we wondered why he was doing so we asked the doctor and he said it was normal but i was wondering if he would ever get back to his real self and not be confused and talk out of his head. thanks.

Answers:
It is hard to say. You never said why he was in the hospital in the first place. If it was a head injury or something like that who knows. If a person is on high doses of Morphine for a prolonged period of time it may take months for him to get back to normal. Try getting an explanation from your Dads doctor about it.

Other Answers:
Yes it takes about 90 days to get OFF morphine. I cant believe doctors are so stupid
well I'm not a doctor or anything I think your doctor but I think your dad belong in the wacky shack
SOUNDS LIKE HE IS GOING THRU DETOX. KEEP AN EYE ON HIM HE SHOULD BE BACK TO HIS OLD SELF IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. CALL 911 IF YOU EVER FEEL HE IS CRISIS.
he should be fine he is going through withdraw. unless he had head trauma to get him in the hospital. i cant tell you how long it will take (don't know the specifics). but the dr knows what he is doing don't be afraid to ask questions. nurses have a better bed side manner
