All my life i have been hard at understanding what other people are meaning .This has hindered me a lot in . .

Question: life especially in work situations. No matter how hard i try i can never comprehend things like a normal person. For example if someone explained how to change a tire on a car, i couldnt picture it but if i try a hands on approach i will figure it out?

Its been like this since i was about six. Is there some kind of cognitive deficiency or disorder i have?

No, a lot of people are better at hands on then boring teaching. If you are really hung up on it you may have some anxiety issues that can be controlled by some good counseling. It is ok to go to counseling no matter what anyone tells you.

Have you ever told your doctor about this? Your doctor may be able to guide you in the right direction(s) and be able to assist you in this problem. The possibilities are endless as to what this may be. My best advice to you is to make a appointment with your family doctor and explain to him or her all your concerns and ask if your doctor could connect you up with someone that could help you.

I have (and I'm not saying you necessarily do) a disorder called Asperger Syndrome. This is a disorder on the high-functioning end of the autistic spectrum.
Part of this disorder deals with social misconception; difficulty getting along with and understanding others, making friends and interpreting body language.
People with AS also have marked excellence with verbal skills unlike those with lower functioning autism.
