Getting off zyprexa?

Question:

Anyone used this drug? If yes, what happens if you get off of it? What are the symptoms? My brother's doctor told him not to take it anymore. The last time he took him off of it, my brother went crazy and had to retake it.

start cutting down the doses slowly do 3/4.1/2..1/4. till finally ur off of it. its hard to go cold turkey on this when i was coming off of it i started to use a mild sleeping pill to help

Don't get off of it cold turkey. Break it in half and then in fourths

He should taper off of it. But if he "went crazy" the last time he got off, he needs to be on something else. Maybe he could try lithium. I know someone who was on Zyprexa and they started to have side effects. Besides, it wasn't helping very much. This person got on lithium and it has been like a miracle drug. I took it for a few weeks and it gave me seizures. I went off of it cold turkey and my seizures haven't reoccured.)(
