sometimes its for the attention, maybe she is not getting enough attention at home and feels that this way someone will pay attention to her if she continues to hurt herself. She might also have some repressed memories of past abuse, and that might be the only way she feels it gets rid of the *dirtiness*.Or it could also be the fact that she feels that to cut herself it will let the pain bleed out, and that everything will come out with the blood. And that the scars are a reminder of all the pain she has endured. Its all really bad, and you should tell her to seek a counselors advice before she slits her wrist and commits suicide. I used to cut. I'm still not really sure "why" I did it, I don't know. just whenever I was mad or sad or upset about anything it was a way to release frustration. or if I did something I thought was wrong or I was mad at myself I would do it to punish myself. I don't know, it doesn't make much sense. Either way, she should get some help.

She my be having trouble with parents, school, boyfriend, friends, etc. so they cut themselves because I think they get a rush off it. I wouldn't know I don't do it but I think that is the reason.She needs help fast before it gets out of hand.

SHE IS POABABLY MENTALLY BEATING UP HERSELF.
Get that girl to go see a psychiatrist or therapist she need help to stop cutting herself. The reason she cuts herself is because every time she does it it actually makes her feel better. She doesn't feel pain. Your friend has some for of depression and you might want to talk to her to see what's going on.
Well i cut i do it beacuse of people **** that they have to say to me but am 14 and u know how teenagers are they dont lisen but mabye u can force her to talk to some one or talk her into talkin to some one good luck
