How long after stopping diazepam is it safe to consume alchohol without it having an adverse effect?

Question: I have a relative who was prescribed diazepam for nearly 9 years they came off it at the start of jan 2006 they had a sociable drink at the end of march and was suffering really bad for a couple of weeks they just wanted to know how long it would take before they could have a drink without it reacting badly with them

ask your doc as I'm not sure how long it stays in your system especially when taken a long time like your relative .
i drank as soon as came off mine but only took it short term .
