OCD and scrupulosity?

Question:
I have obsessive compulsive disorder. I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend for four years. Last August I kept having this thought that I was going to hell for dating or marrying him. I am a Christian and so is my boyfriend. I have talked to my mom and my psychiatrist about this and they both agree that this is not true. Although I know this logically isn't true, I cannot stop thinking this. I love him with all my heart and could not live my life without him. Please give me any suggestions you have for dealing with this. You don't think this is true do you?

Answers:
no way its not true.ocd plays on the brains weaknesses and knowledge.
for example, the fact that you are christian means that you are aware of heaven and hell.and subconciously u feel that you may be committing sin by having a relationship.
the fact is that ocd plays on ones own knowledge and uses it against them, the more you know, the more servere ocd usually is and the complex the thoughts tend to be..
im not saying that you should try and lessen you knowledge..lol
but i have suffered from OCD and underwent therapy.

the main technique i was told to use is thinking extremely rationally, obviously these thoughts are not rational. there is no evidence or proof as to say that you WILL go to hell.only to the extent of how much u acknowledge it..

if these are just thoughts, then you must counter them with the strong belief that what your thinking is jus nonsensee.in essence, what your doing is NOT acknowledging irrational thoughts, it make take a while to fully dismiss thoughts but think of it this way.
a story which put things into perspective was this:

a man sitting on a bus kept ripping up paper and throwing it out of the window.
when the ticket master asked him why he was doin this
he replied..to keep elephants of the road.
the ticket master asked.how on earth will this make sure elephants are kept of the roads.
the man replied..well its working so far.

ultimately, this puts in2 perspective that the thoughts you have are irrartional and so you musnt act on them

i wish you all the best!
