how do you deal with depression without medication?
Question:
Answers:
I used to get depressed, but now whenever I'm in a situation when I'm feeling down I call a friend or family member and talk about it. Sometimes it can help you sort things out in your mind when you just talk and have someone there that will listen and give advice.
It also helps if you treat yourself to a little ice cream once in a while or if you're on a diet, fat-free rainbow sherbet works too. Cheer up. You'll be fine. :)

thats hard, try talking to a doctor or close friend? sometimes talking just helps, if not see a doctor for meds. theyre not that bad
To be honest, I was never able to until I developed a relationship with God and let him into my heart. I don't mean to get all religious on you, but that's the only thing that worked for me. Until then, I took medication and still had problems.
Just my two cents.

Don't think about what has you down and depressed.
It depends on the severity of your depression. If it is severe depression you should seek medical help, especially if you have suicidal thoughts you should call a doctor. Now that is said, you can also relieve symptoms of depression through exercise and getting some sun shine is also a good way to help you feel better. But you should know sometimes depression is a true chemical imbalance that can only be relieved by medication. such as SSRI's which in effect bring hormonal levels up in much the same way good aerobic activity does. Again, depending on the level of depression. it is always good to seek medical advice from a professional lots of sunlight,1 hour of fastwalking everyday, plenty of water, limit coffee to one cup a day,no sugar or junk food, eat mostly foods that will stabilize your blood sugar levels, watch seinfeld and everybody loves raymond, and ben stiller movies, stay away from irritating in-laws.
